Vriesea hieroglyphica is known as 'The King of the Bromeliads' which is largely due to its size.

It features striking, large, deep green leaves that have unusual, hieroglyph-like black banding and recurved tips. The leaves form a rosette of that can be as large as 1.5m in diameter.

They are used mainly as indoor plants, especially in commercial buildings where more space is available for planting en-masse. They also go well in shaded and humid locations outdoor in warmer climates.

Unlike other Bromeliads this plant can often bloom more than once, producing a tall spike atop which are yellow, cream or white flowers.

They will tolerate mild frost only.

*Please note the following conditions:

*Plant sent in their pot by request OR wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Plant chosen at random by us. Pictures are similar to the plant you will receive. Plants are grown in an open greenhouse and are subject to natural conditions such as grasshoppers, minor blemishes. Sizes can also vary after drying + packing so may appear a little different than from the photo shown.
