A rare climbing form of Philodendron, Splendid (Philodendron verrucosum x melanochrysum) is a hybrid that grows best in a warm humid environment with bright indirect light. With bold deep green velvety leaves decorated by strong veining, this fast growing variety shows off leaves that can grow quite large as the plant matures.
Philodendron are perfect for pots and indoor culture and they require a well drained soil and a brightly lit position out of direct sunlight. Preferring light humidity, Philodendron appreciate regular watering, but do not let the plant become waterlogged as this will cause fungal issues and most likely death, particularly during Winter. For best results fertilise regularly with a slow release fertiliser and repot every few years using a good quality potting mix for indoor plants.
In warmer climates, these gorgeous plants will brighten up a sheltered shady position outside.
